Another student insurance thread! - With a twist! ;)

Hey Guys, A new member here but have always been reading these forums for a while now. Let me explain my situation first.
Myself and 2 of my friends have privately rented out a house. This is not a student house so firstly does not have any bedroom door locks. (Some insurance companys want this).
Our other problem is that no one wants to insure us as we are all students. If we get individual student insurance, it works out to around £350+ for all of us. However a normal contents insurance can cost around £150 for the three of us. Does anybody know of any insurance company who are willing to insure the actual house and not just the policy holder?
Getting this insurance is part of our tenancy agreement so really have no choice but to get insurance!
Any help is mucho appreciated!

You will struggle to get an ordinary policy, I am having no luck getting one for DD who is a post grad student, and lives alone.
What is it you want to insure? The landlords contents are up to him to insure, so I presume it is your personal stuff?
They could be covered by your parents home insurance if this is just a term time address.
If not, then HSBC seem reasonable for students.0 -
There were some cheaper insurance quotes in alternative thread *apologises for not having a clue how to find and link the thread*...but there def was as I cut insurance from £15 per month to £35ish for the year

Yeah, I have looked around at other threads and those companies mentioned in those have not really been able to help me.
Student Insurance is expensive and only covers the individual. This can be a cost of around £150 each (inc laptop cover etc). That is about £450 for three of us. My parents building and contents insurance is ALOT less than that! This is why I am trying to find a policy which will cover all of us under one roof at a reduced cost.
The other problem I have is that alot of student policies (If I choose to take one) require you to have a locked bedroom door. Non of us have locks on our doors which then make alot of insurance policies void.
Currently as it stands, I am uninsurable!!!
I am sure other students have been in a similar position as me previously??

You're not uninsurable - you just want something that isn't on offer! Insurance policies cover a "household" - you are a household of one in a high-risk group and are quoted on that basis.
You say in the first post that the three of you can get cover for about £350 - in other words, the cost of one of your laptops. For that, you get cover for 3 laptops and £5-10,000 of other goods depending on the policy. This will cost you a few pounds each a week. Sounds reasonable to me!
Mel.Though no-one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending.
