Where have my shares gone?

Hi, yesterday I managed to buy some LLoyds shares(@ £2.50) with SELFTRADE
It has been extremely frustrating all week to either buy or sell, both the website and phones overrun.
However to my astonishment there is no record of the deal in my account.
I definitely did the deal and witnessed the contract note.
Naturally with a 35% rise today I am rather annoyed.
Has this ever happened to anyone else,I can only assume the problem has occurred because of the sheer volume of activity but with no record in my account what can I do about it:mad:

  • Is there a copy of the contract note in your Selftrade Inbox? Maye there is just a delay in the deal showing in your online portfolio?

You're lucky, I couldn't even login to my account.
So much for cut price brokers.
  • There is no record of transaction,Im hoping it doesnt appear next week after a big fall! The website is full of apology but this week has been a joke.
Im gutted, I tried many times unsuccessfully to buy HBOS when they fell to £1 they then more than doubled an hour later. They have cost me dear this week.TDWATERHOUSE was just as bad, theyve been down most of the day, nightmare.
  • Selftrade had major problems today with online and telephone trading..

They obviously have contention problems with their service.

I lost out on a lot of money today, but blame no one else but me as I was stupid to move my shares to Selftrade..

  • Can anybody recommend a more reliable service,is it straightforward to switch shares ISA to new provider.
  • I think they were all the same, highly unusual market conditions and none of them could cope

Hargreves Lansdown were having trouble with trading as well. As well as this so were TD Waterhouse.

I don't think it was a lonesome thing. Too much market activity means they couldn't cope.
  • SELFTRADE have acknowledged that I accepted the quote and therefore you would assume the shares were mine but because of the 'high volatility' the deal did not take place.I bet if they had fallen 30% they would have appeared in my portfolio.Something to bear in mind next time YOU buy shares.Quote: As we rely on the market maker to give us a firm confirmation of trades,CONFIRMATION OF A SHARES PURCHASE WILL NOT ALWAYS BE FULL CONFIRMATION:mad:
  • tony I had similar problems elsewhere. Anyone had more success with barclays or another broker, maybe they deal direct?
