Best option-activating phone line...?

Good afternoon all.
I have lived for a year in a 3yr old flat. The previous person never activated the line, so BT want me to pay them £125 and sign an 18 month contract.
Now I really only want the line for broadband really. I have checked Samknows and it tells me that Orange and TalkTalk are the only local loop unbundled providers at my exchange.
Does this mean they are my only options? Any help on other options available?
All the best Si

Thanks Caz3121.
Thats the line I believe I will have to go down. Only really want the phone line for broadband anyway, so probably cheaper to get a dongle thingummywatsit. Will have a look over on that forum to find a good, reliable one.
Cheers for replying. Si0 -

http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/public/current/Notice08_boo/2-FrameworkImpl268785.htmTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
