Halifax Savings Account withdrawn

Hello, we set up (using advice from this site) a new savings account with Halifax, and arranged to pay £50 pm into it per month for a year. My main account is with the Halifax, I set up a standing order to send the £50 over monthly, and the first month went smoothly. This month I received a letter from Halifax saying that the second payment hadn't arrived and so they have closed my savings account. I am stunned. There was money in my regular account and the standing order is in place, so I have no idea why the amount wasn't paid. It seems as if they didn't pay themselves in order to close the account. Would that be madness? What can we do?

if its a monthly saver, i believe one of the conditions was cannot be funded from Halifax account ?, certainly not a halifax savings acc.
Condittion is also will be closed if SO per month not paid in0 -
yes, cleared funds. The local branch helped me to set up the account, and the s/o so I assumed all was ok. I will be speaking to them again tomorrow, as the local branch say they dont know why account closed

Just for info, I have a SO set up from my Halifax current account into my Regular Saver. Actually, they set it up for me when I opened the account. Mine's been runnng fine for a few months now.
edit: I've just remembered that the first payment wasn't by SO: it was manually transferred. Maybe your problem is with the SO?
As others have said, I'd check with the Halifax. Let us know how you get on.Debbie0 -
well, latest is that Halifax say they have no record of the standing order, and that the first payment was made manually when setting up the account. They are now checking their records to see if they can find any details of the standing order and will get back to us. Thsi is not exactly how we recall it all happening, but are waiting to see what they say next. Thanks to all
