My LG shine is just over a year old and the battery seems to need recharging every day. What's wrong with it and can it be fixed? I dont use it that much and never use games on it.Do I need a new battery or a new phone?

You could try letting it completely discharge and thenrecharge it fully. Do this a couple of times and it might improve somewhat.
Otherwise it's probably off to e-bay for a new battery!0 -
Li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory effects, but they do have a fininte lifespan that is dependent on how the battery was used, ie keeping it charged at 100% significantly reduces the lifespan.
Just get a new one, it's obviously past it now.0 -
think the Shine uses the same battery as the viewty (or near as..) , in which case even if you get a new one it's going to go the same way in no time.
what I do with my Viewty is, I have three batteries all charged when convienent, and then use them one after another charging the ones I'm not using. sound awkward, but really it's not, and you always know you have a full battery handy
(oh btw, ebay for spare battery's, a dealer with 1000's of feedback will sell you a battery just as good as 'official' sources for a fraction

Li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory effects...
Sorry, I should have explained myself better. I wasn't referring to memory effects. I was wondering whether these are 'smart' Li-Ion batteries. If they are, it could be a problem with the voltage monitoring built into the battery. I have experienced this in the past and discharging the battery 'resets' the circuit and the battery's performance improved greatly.
If nothing else, it might be worth trying before buying a replacement batteryas it would effectively be free!0
