Hi I would like to put some saving in an Abbey account. Anybody know if they are connected to the Bradford and Bingley in anyway? I want to be protected if either went under

They ARE connected in my town centre. Right next door to each other !0

Why would you want to deposit money with the shower that is Abbey? Easily the worst customer service record of any high street bank, just read the Sunday broadsheets each week and search the forum0

Yes I know their Customer service is rubbish but I just want to open a saving account and their branch is covenant for me and they are offering 6.3%. All I will have to do is go in the branch, pay in and withdraw with a paying in book. How can that go wrong?:cool:0

Search and read my (and others) posts on the subject, they screwed my passbook account up, and other members of my family too, I'll never use them again, truly atrocious company! I switched to Skipton, and it was a breath of fresh air, nothing is too much trouble.0 -
We started with Abbey in the 1980's - their service of our accounts for many years was exemplary.
Since Santander they have gone downhill (IMHO) rapidly.
After 2 complaints about their customer service call centres in 9 months, we have withdrawn all our savings. 1 complaint was accepted and compensated, the other effectively 'brushed under the carpet'.
A good interest rate sacrificed, but never again....0 -
