Paying Deposit by Credit Card

I was wondering if I pay £300 deposit on credit card towards £2,700 of accommodation am I covered under the consumer credit act? I was planning to pay the balance on a debit card.

You will be protected against the £300, you will not be protected against the rest I don't think. The credit card company will only fight for the part their are liable for.0

But why don't you pay the balance on the credit card as well and pay the credit card of straight away with your debit card?0

You can pay as little as £1 deposit by credit card.
As long as the purchase price is more than £100 (and less than £25K [or is it £30K?]) you're covered for the full amount under section 75 of the CCA.0 -
I don't want to pay in full by credit card because of the surcharge.
