Hi guys and girls
Ok just got my renewal for BT Internet. Currently on the unlimited package (option 3) receive approx 3.5mb line due to distance from exchange (so thats pretty much fixed).
Montly charge will be £22.99 for Broadband but paying approx the same for the BT Landline Telephone too!!! so Quarterly bill for Telephone and Broadband is approx £120.
Now im happy with my service and reliability but the cost is a little bit high, and before I ring them up haggling for a better deal and the new homehub ect I have some questions.
VirginMedia 10mb line is that connection governed by any exchanges ect. If they say 10mb do you get 10mb?
The throttling they do on the line is it just for those who do a shed load of downloading or are they throttling general users (I dont do P2P d/l ect but I do play online games and both my self and the missus are on t'internet a lot).
So for example if we were averaging 10gig d/loaded per month (unlikley but nice to have a buffer) would they throttle the service?
ty in advance.

"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

BT internet is way overpriced. See this thread here and ask for your MAC.
thanks for that.
Rang them up asked for MAC code said I found a cheaper provider as per the thread.
Got 12months for £14.99 on unlimited option 3, new black hub, and they are retesting/resetting the line in the hopes of getting me from 3.5 to 4.5mb.
Plus no hassle of changing providers.
All in all a great deal. thanks a lot.
