The safest/cheapest card for paying for a holiday

I go abroad once, maybe twice a year and always pay for this on my Natwest current account debit card, but with all the uncertainty surrounding airlines, I would like to get a credit card which would give me protection should the worst happen.
I know you can avoid paying a card fee using an electron card when paying for flights, so is there a electron credit card available that would serve both purposes? I have never had a credit card before so I really don't know much about them.
I have also posted this on the travel board.
Thanks

I think Electron is only available as Debit Cards and not Credit Cards.0
