I have done 2 things close together so unsure if it sky broadband or computer starting back at date of purchase point that has done this.
Right i switched to sky broadband and noticed that messages had trouble sending (they did eventually after maybe a computer restart or next time it was switched on ).
Now i have restarted computer right back to a year ago when i got computer & i have managed to get my tesco account recieving. (does not send at all and it is correct i am sure "mail.tesco.net")
One ntlworld is working but again will not send is "smtp.ntlworld.com" .
Any ideas what is going wrong?

Try setting your e-mail client SMTP to that of your ISP. e.g. smtp.tools.sky.com:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

2 send 1 tesco and 1 ntlworld but neither will recieve. I rung ntlworld and it is set up correctly so unsure what is going on(could not ask too much as the asked about router and i left a month ago so had to exit the helpline call!)
error says "An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'home', Server: 'mail.tesco.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 aamtaout04-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from [90.210.222.137]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67"0 -
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'ntl2', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
this is the other error message0 -

Have you entered the correct POP3 settings for both your Tesco and Virgin accounts. Who did you leave a month ago? If you have now left NTL/Virgin, you can't use their mail servers!

This looks like you are trying to send to the Tesco SMTP sever while using NTL/Virgin as your ISP. Most ISP's won't allow mail to be sent other than via their own mail server as a spam prevention measure. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I would set up a new mail account and configure it exactly as sky tell you to. Make sure you use a supported email client for this and then once its working you can change to your preferred. See if it sends and receives.
As expresso said, if you have cancelled your NTL package why do you think they would let you send emails?0 -
Oh, i have been sending and recieving mail for over 3 years after leaving tesco and thought that it was the same with ntl (they are letting me send ok) .
Do you have to get rid of your email accounts from other places when you leave them then or can your new company send and recieve them?0 -

It depends on the ISP. Generally it's best to use ISP independent e-mail accounts, rather than ISP provided ones as these can be used with any ISP with the correct settings if you change. Most ISP's now require you to send using their own SMTP server. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
