Can vista delete tracks?

It has only happened once but I was wondering if it is possible for Vista
to go through your downloads and delete them?
A song I was given a couple of months ago has gone , not sure where the person who gave it to me downloaded it from

Where did it delete the song from?

    A folder?

    iTunes?

    Windows Media Player?

Are you sure you couldn't have misplaced it or accidently deleted it yourself?
  • Of course it wouldn't, you've either deleted it yourself or misplaced it.

Have you tried searching for it? Windows Search on your start menu is quite good for finding things.

I am positive I didn't delete it. I played it for weeks then when I connected to the net , it disappeared. I think the person got it via a file sharing site. It was given to me via MSN and was in my downloads section

It's obviously a feature in Vista that it automatically deletes illegal downloads! ;)

The only way it could have been deletd is if you or someone else who uses your PC has deleted it.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

As I said above, I didn't delete it.

    BillScarab,

I think you are right! Thought I was being paranoid. My other songs are still there ,thankfully(from various sites)
You are being paranoid. BillScarab was being sarcastic. (Which is why he attached a smiley.)

He also said (although you ignored it):
The only way it could have been deleted is if you or someone else who uses your PC has deleted it.

  • I often lose things in amongst all the rubbish on my hard drive - that's the trouble with huge hard drives you don't have to keep them tidy like you did when there was only a couple of gig to play with.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Have an efficient filing system then ;)
