I have sympathy for the OP - there are so many people in this country who choose not to work when there is nothing stopping them. My neighbour has never worked and life is one long party. I have always worked and can't afford half the luxuary items she has.
Would it be so bad to help someone for a short time when they have paid more into the system than they will ever get back?
To OP - once you capital reduces to under £16K, remember to claim for CTB.0 -
Trick is to withdraw savings if you suspect you may lose your job. Good thing about being made redundant, is that you have not lost your job intentially. the threshold for savings is £16,000 so if you go below that amount you could qualify to claim or you could try and get a job even if you do temping. i'ld rather work washing dish's than claim off the dole. They are far too nosey poking around in bank accounts. Once they have a record of it then it's there for life. Don't tell them anything!0

And do what with the money? Hide it under the mattress? Wherever it is it's still savings, bank accounts can be checked back several years and your suggestion amounts to benefit fraud!0 -
