Who Provides The Best Student Contents Insurance?

Hi everyone,

Im a student at Leeds uni going into my third year and Iv decided that its about time that I sorted myself out with some contents insurance. I was just wondering what insurance people would recommend either from experience or from what they've heard would be best?
The kind of cover I would want would be cover for damage (accidental or things like fire and flood) and theft and I would guess that the amount of my stuff together would come to around £2500-£3000 (the most expensive of my stuff being a laptop, external harddrive, extensive amount of clothes and shoes and an expensive electric guitar, my baby!)
Ive heard endsleigh are quite popular and they did me a quote of about £224 for the year but I wondered if anybody had any other suggestions?

Thanks very much! : )

P.S Im sorry if this thread has been started somewhere else before but I had a search and a look and couldnt find it mentioned

I've been with Saxon insurance for students for the last couple of years, but haven't claimed, so don't know how good they are. They were lots cheaper than endsleigh for me though.

They were around £65 including laptop cover.
  • My son is in his third year at teesside uni. I just add him to our household insurance. It costs me no extra and he is covered for £5k.
    I am with Hiscox.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
  • My parents are with Legal and General, and I can be added to their insurance for nothing to be covered in case of theft from the flat up to 5k. I went to Endsleigh who quoted me £59 to extend my cover.

I'm with Nationwide and procided my son's uni address is his temporary address, i.e. he comes home occasionally eg in holidays then he is covered by my insurance. However if you are in a house and don;t go home it may be different.

Im with saxon, seem good and beter value than endleigh
  • I know this was asked quite a while ago, but I recently took out insurance for my son who has just gone off to university.

We used Harrison Beaumont Student Contents Insurance who provided a really good service and a lot lower premium than I expected.
