Free postage

If I list an item with free postage, does that mean I have to provide the free postage to ANY part of the world, or just the UK?
My auction just ended at 99p, fortunately the item is light and going to Portugal.
I know the answer to that one, I should have specified, I'm just making sure...

Did you state in the auction that the free postage offer was only for UK buyers?"There are no pockets in a shroud..."0

No...
But the buyer has contacted me for postage... I have decided to do it free unless he wants insurance - have to learn lessons the hard way. Although losing 47p is not exactly hard...:wall:0 -

You will be losing more than 47p. You have listing fees of 15p, FVFs of approx 5p and paypal fees of approx 27p. The cheapest letter airmail rate to Portugal for a 20g item (basically nothing heavier than a letter) is 42p.
Personally I would tell the buyer that the free postage was for surface and that airmail would be xx extra, just to reduce your loss a bit.

No I disagree with Soo. From what you say its not going to be the end of the world. Send the item learn the lesson and adjust your listngs as necessary. (I am assuming the price received is within acceptable limits!!)
Anything else could result in a negative....changing the auction conditions after the event0 -
I did quote him zero on the postage. Then I noticed that at the bottom of the Ebay listing- Postage - it does say sellers rate - free - available in UK only, as I specified UK only postage - anything else is by application from the bidder.
Therefore, panicked unnecessarily. Small loss.
Also I don't know where I got the 47p from - I meant 42, as i keep Ebay fees all in one nice pot that only haunts me once a month... therefore I can feel better about my profits, which are miniscule enough as it is. And they all add together, so at the end of the month the fees don't seem that bad. Ahhh, denial...:wall:0
