Lost Freeview Channels

Hi,
we have a Freeview box, and I retuned it yesterday, which I do every month or so.
We then lost a number of channels, eg bbc1, 2, 3, 4, Channel 4, BBC news, E4, and several others.
We CAN get them - but all at the "high end" of the spectrum, in the 800s.
They were all present OK before I retuned the box.
We live in South Essex.
Any idea whats happening please?
Is there s transmitter down or something? Help please!
Cheers,
Karen

Hello lawrenson

Well you can get them so you have not lost any channels?
Can you tell me your post code or first few digits of it as that would help.
I have guessed one here:-

It's hard to say what happened but I think maybe it has picked up a weaker
tranmitter first which has caused the stronger tranmitter to be pushed up
into the 800's.
It hard to say because you don't give enough info.
How many channels did it find?
Did it find channels with low numbers which do not work (no picture) or did it not
find them at all?
What is the make and model of the box?
I would just try retuning again.
I think you may have picked up a weak signal which will be detected but not give
a picture which means the best signal has been shifted into the high numbers.
I would not retune unless absolutely necessary once you have a good set-up.0 -

As this has only been recent then it could be due to the split NIT that has recently happened transmitter by transmitter.
Some boxes that had software not fully to spec have decided to move some channels to the 800s where channels are normally put if the boxes are picking up channels from more than one transmitter. Some of the box manufactures should be releasing a software update at some point to fix this.
The spec was there in DTT to allow for a split NIT however some box manufactures hadn't allowed for it in their boxes / software as it wasn't expected it was needed. Split NIT is required due to there being more channels as even channels that are only broadcast for an hour or two need to be accounted for if listed separately.

Likely to be boxes sold before the digital tick label was brought in.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
My built in freeview on one of my TVs keeps losing channels every few days. Seems all our boxes/sets are affected by weather. It doesn't seem to like it when it's warm and dry!! We have to retune to get them back.

Hi,
thanks for the replies.
I think it may be the "split nit" problem.
We have an old, cheap Echostar box.
All the Channels on "mux 1" and "mux 2" seem to have been moved into the 800s.
I have tried retuning a number of times, and rebooting the box, but no luck.
Could be a new box!
Thanks anyways.
Cheers,
