Hi
Can anybody help me my cursor randomly jumps back on itself whilst I am typing. This is very annoying  as I have to keep checking as I type to make sure it hasn't jumped half way back up the page so i'm not typing in the middle of erlier text. I am using a laptop, but I have carefully checked that I am not accidently touching the mouse pad so cannot see any reason for it to do so. It does this when I am typing word document, emails and even instant messaging.... I dunno
what's going on....
If anybody has any idea as to why this is happening and more to the point how to fix it can you let me know

Try double clicking on the touchpad icon in the system tray (bottom right of screen), and go into Pointer Options. If there's a Snap To checkbox there, make sure it's unchecked.
HTHI'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Yes - if you hover over it, it should read Touch Pad. If it's not there, try Start, then Control Panel, then Mouse, and it should bring up a dialogue box with lots of tabs on top - Pointer Options being one. Just make sure the Snap To option is unchecked... good luck!I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I know you said you've checked you're not touching the touchpad but I've seen the exact same situation with someone who swore blind they weren't touching it when they were accidentally brushing it. It might be worth covering it for a little while with something and having a test to see if your problem goes away.Everyone needs a volume control -

Inamabilis I can't believe it that u were absolutely correct  . I could have sworn blind that I wasn't touching the pad but it appears its so sensitive that I was
(embarrassed grin) accidently brushing it
Since I have been covering the pad with my debit card
(fits nicely) when I am typing wouldn't u know no more jumping . Mystery solved :j
Thanks :T0 -
if you look in the track pad settings some have an option to detect palm resting and also you could try turning down the sensitivity
