Hi all
My DVD/CD drive has all of a sudden stopped recognising disks when I insert them. I have tried all sorts of disks music CDs, game DVDs, blank DVD the lot but it simply does not recognised any. When I click on the drive it tells me to insert a disk. I have not changed any drivers and I have checked that I have the most up to date driver available. I have also checked on device manager and it says the drive is working properly
I’m running a windows Visa PC, please help

How old is the drive? maybe it just needs the lens cleaning....though it might just be broke....clean the lens and see if that works if not its probably brokeIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
you can pick up a new dvd writer these days for around £15 (just make sure you get the correct interface - either IDE or SATA)
they are stupidly easy to replace. if you are comfortable using a screwdriver, youll be fine replacing a drive. you literally just unscrew the old one (after opening your case) and then do a direct swap for the new one. just remember which plug goes where when you are taking the old one out. even someone who has never done it before could swap it in under half an hour...

My concern is perhaps you have a virus though?:idea:0
