Help! Economy 7 Electricity.

My night rates are 22.30 to 00.30 and 02.30 to 07.30 total of 7 hours per night.
The timer on the digital meter is spot on and adjusts for BST.
With the use of timers for washing machine, tumble drier and immersion heater, together with storage heaters (which are far more effective than I imagined), 76% of my electricity is at cheap night rate0 -
If you cheap rate is set at your meter you really do need to check what time it comes on a goes off and whether your meter is set to the correct time. My meter is a couple of hours out so I get econ7 3:30am - 10:30am. I've rang the supplier twice to tell them the times wrong but they havn't come out so I've left it. My times suit me better than econ7 times to be honest.
I've never had storage heaters but I know others who have and have 'managed' them quite effectively. If you are out during the day you don't want them pumping out heat only to go cold at 6pm when you get home. Turn down the output when you go out (not too much trouble in a small flat if you only have 3/4 heaters to adjust) when you get back turn them back up. That way you should have a warm flat for getting up and have plenty of heat left for evening. HTHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Hi thanks all! Just checked my meter and it says the night rate starts between 11.30 & 11.45 for 7 hours. I only have the 1 storage heater in the whole flat but just re-set the controls to boost the output later on in the day (strangely enough it has the 1 to 9 controls as 1- no boost 2-late boost & 9-early boost so set it at 4 and will see how it goes!) The input control i've set at between cold & very cold. Hopefully this will work!
I'll certainly invest in a timer for my washing machine!
thanks for your replies xxx0
