Help?

I had to reinstall Windows XP (took me a few attemts too!) today, having first copied files and folders onto an external hard drive for safety.

I copied the files and folders back to my now clean c: drive but I wondered if there was a 'simple' way to get programs up and running ie Firefox with my saved bookmarks, IE with a few saved bookmarks, Mozilla Thunderbird etc?

Will I have lost all my bookmarks, emails etc?

TIA

    Hi,

Unless you specifically backed these up, then I would expect that you will have lost these. I don't use Thunderbird myself, but if it is anything like Outlook then the e-mails would have been saved to some obscur location and would need to be located first before you can back them up (too late now). Your bookmarks are the same, they could have been backed up but unless you did this before reinstalling then they are now gone.

I've just re-installed my father-in-laws computer and am in the same position. (I've never been that fussed about keeping them on my own computer, I like the fresh start)
