New SATA hard-drive

Hi all
I've just been given a SATA hard-drive and I've got an IDE motherboard.
I've bought a converter to run it through the USB port and all that wires up nicely.
Now, I can't seem to get access to the HDD even when it's all plugged in and the HDD is spinning (I can feel it vibrating gently).
Anyone any ideas?

When you say you can't access it, do you mean you can see it but you can't get onto it, or you cannot see it whatsoever?0

if the problem is you cannot see it (like Lokolo mentions above) then you may need to go into your disk manager (hopefully you are running XP as IM not sure with vista)..
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
Disk Management - see if it displays in thereDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
If it doesn't, which I suspect is the case. You need to install its drivers. Should be a disk which came with the drive.0

I can't see it whatsoever, so I'll try the Computer Management bit.
Does it matter that I'm connecting via a USB port?
I didn't get a disk with it, I got it from work on the QT.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
