"Emission control system problem" - pug307

Hi all,

I've got a Peugeot 307 HDi (110 BHP, not 90) and when I started it yesterday, the engine warning light stayed on and the message "emission control system problem" flashed up on my dash. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I've got my MOT due soon, so want to get it sorted out at the same time or before.

Thanks in advance...

I've read before this means they need some sort of expensive liquid topping up somewhere, and that to avoid this happening more often you should brim the tank when filling up with fuel.

Thanks for the quick reply. I always fill up my tank until the nozzle stops itself. I do let it run down a fair bit before refuelling sometimes, though.

If its your FAP filter that needs changing, it can be cleaned, despite what a Peugeot main dealer may tell you. Remove the FAP filter & give it a good going over with a jet wash. If you need any more details let me know, someone on the club forum has written a guide.
