Car Insurers for new UK Residents?

We are currently living in Sweden and hubby has been offered a job back in the UK. We´re trying to work out all the costs involved in moving back. I´m a UK citizen and hubby is a Swedish citizen. Hubby has previously been a UK resident for 2 years from 2001 to 2003. When I look at motor insurance quotes it asks how long the applicants have been resident in the UK and informs that if you have only been resident for under 2 years it is likely that your premiums will be increased (which they are!!!)

Are we able to get this reduced in any way. Are there independent agents who could track down an insurer that will take our personal circumstances into consideration?

It seems unfair that we should pay more yet again (he had increased premiums the first time he moved there). Also what about his no claims discount from those years, does anyone know if it is invalidated now because of the time that has passed?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as wehave to make a decision on the job offer fairly quickly and want to be informed of just how much we´re going to have to spend on things if we do return to the UK.

Yep definitely speak to an insurance broker as there are companies who would take your circumstances into consideration. With regards to the bonus that will be out of date unfortunately. Again you might find using a broker there might be an insurer who will accept swedish no claims discount assuming he has some of course.
