Thanks these shares are only worth 75p each, so there not the HBOS shares that are about £2.22 at the moment!

Yes, those are Ordinary Shares, ours (I have 400 from the B'ham Midshires demutualisation as well) are Preference Shares.

I can't find any info on that yet but you will find some general info on Preference Shares HERE, the Paragraph entitled 'Grey area' offers some possible scenarios in the event of takeover.

What it means for the shares is that for roughly every 38 shares you currently hold you will get 1 new share.
Holders of 1217 shares will get an additional share due to rounding.
