Barclays Tax beater Cash ISA withdrawals?

I was a mug got Hoiked in and am now in the "keep net".

I wanted to pay money in to my ISA earlier this year, I went to the bank and they said you have do it by post! I decided such an arrangement was ridiculous and decided to transfer the ISA to a different more flexible provider but I stayed in the keep net and never got round to it.

Now I want to make a withdrawal. Please tell me, can I make a partial withdrawal easily *at my branch*? How fast does it get done? If it's by post how fast is it done?
BTW, I do want to withdraw money, then I will transfer the ISA to the principality at a later date.

If I want to close the account (not transfer), I have been told I can do that at the branch.... is that correct? How fast does that get done?

I also tried transfering online today out of my ISA, the account and balance are displayed, but it would not let me transfer out online !!!!!!!

Also If I withdraw, do I lose the tax benefit on only the amount I withdraw? Or do I lose the tax benefit for the whole balance of the account? And to what back dated date do I lose the benefit?

Cheers.

  • Hi, if you WITHDRAW the money rather than TRANSFER it, (by going to the institution you want to move to and filling in the forms) tyou lose the ISA allowance for that year, so be careful. Transferring was easy when I did it last year, though does take a few weeks for it all to go through.
Don't know the answers to any of your other questions though sorry.
  • You can also do it over the phone, I have paid in like this from my current Barclays account to ISA and it happens immediately. Never tried doing it the other way round though.

You have the account number, sortcode and name you can BACS transfer in. I have done this through HSBC's internet banking.
