access to password protected laptop?

hi all,

my laptop was stolen earlier this week... had a password on my account but there was a guest account without (restricted with no access to my files etc)

not really a techy type.. just wondering if its easy for someone to bypass the password and gain access to my account? - there's stuff on it i'd rather weren't seen and am getting slightly paranoid now

have frozen all my online banking and accounts and changed passwords, log - ins etc.

some scrote came into my house during the day, we were in! took that and a few other bits... :mad:

Yes it is possible. I have done it a few times on company laptops so I can create my own admin account (I hate not being able to look at the calendar and not being able to install stuff). There is software out there that will do it for you. Anything that may have contained passwords etc get changed, include email addresses, logons for forums such as this. If you have any sensitive data for your job or anything on it let your company know as well.

Hopefully you had a backup so you don't lose any of your data for good.

will just have to hope they flog it to someone thats happy to use the guest account or wipe it clean then :mad:

have got copies of the important stuff on my pc, but were a couple of letters in my docs i'd rather weren't seen..
