Travelodge Room Cancellation Insurance

I was just about to book a travelodge room and was noticing the room cancellation insurance (for the saver rate) they offer these days when you book for an extra £1. It says this can be used if you cannot use the room due to illness (and other reasons). Does anyone know any more about this i.e. how easy is it to claim if you do fall ill and can't go, wondered if they would go as far as requesting a doctors note or anything. Would be great if anyone had any knowledge of this, thanks.

Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
  • I took out the Travelodge insurance in August for a trip with my family to Ludlow but on the day we were due to travel my daughter was suddenly ill and we had to call an ambulance. The paramedics gave a report and we sent this to AIG on 20th August with a claim for a refund which was acknowledged.

I have emailed and written on 4 occasions since then to ask about the claim and have not even received a reply. It might only be a £1 for the insurance but my advice is save it and yourself a load of hassle. Better still don't book with Travelodge!

"better still dont book with travelodge"

Sorry to hear about your trip, but to say dont book with travelodge doesnt make sense, I have used them loads for their saver rooms...£5 when they first started and have just booked some more for £9. Where else can I get a family room for £9?
