NUS or ISIC Card

I am about to start a course with the Open University and understand that I can apply for a student card to get discounts. Which card is better, the NUS Extra card or the ISIC or is it worth having both? The NUS costs £10 and the ICIS £9, although you can buy the latter for £6.00 if you have a NUS card.
The Open University also do their own card which is free.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks everyone

Which card do the OU provide free?If you get an nus card it did incorporate the isic into it (not sure about this year)The ISIC is better if you do a lot of travelling. If you get an NUS online make sure you have a decent pic available.Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0

I don't remember getting a card from the OU (I did the 'beginnings' course though so maybe it's different for those)
I paid £10 for the NUS/ICIS card.. it was combined as one card!
Have they stopped doing this then?
I'll go and have a look.... back in a mo
... it wont let me log in... do you have to re-register each year?
I got mine last year - I'm waiting to start uni and then decide if I'll get one for this year - apparently you still get the student discount with your uni card so I'm undecided at the moment.Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -
Thanks for your replies.
Information regarding the OU's own membership card called the OUSA ia available on this page - http://www2.open.ac.uk/ousa/p2_5.shtml
The NUS/ISIC card are no longer combined as far as I'm aware. I think this is why they are now offering the £3.00 discount for NUS members who buy a ISIC card.
I mainly want to use one to get into the cinema half price, restaurants, high street places etc and wondered which offered the most.0 -

the ISIC is like an international student card - so for the cinema half price/high streets in UK the NUS will be fine.Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -
Thanks Wiggynut. I shall opt for the NUS then.0

The combination one has gone this year
However they are doing an offer for 3 years for £25 instead of paying £10 per year so I have got that one and saved myself a fiver :T0 -
I've had the combined card for hte last year and I have only used my ISIC card once in all the time I had it, while on holiday in Italy I got student entry to a theme park.
NUS card however i easily got my money back on...I used it practically every time I went shopping, as well as online. The amazon discount has easily saved me £100+ this year, while HMV and Zavvi spends...well I know my mum was glad for the discoutn at christmas0 -
Also NUS with the OU seems to last longer. When I did an OU course my card was valid for about a year and a half that was for a course starting in July and only lasted for about 6 months.0

I got one of these last month and the list of potential discounts is staggering. £100 off certain tariffs on Three to name just one.
Just thought I'd dispel the myth that the combined card doesn't exist any more.

Hey everybody
I already have an ISIC - if I want to have discount for e.g. Clubs (where my normal student ID is not accepted btw) do I need to buy the NUS as well or does the ISIC work there as well... any experience on that?
Thanks0
