FSCS - Compensation for Savings

In light of everything thats going on with HBOS/Lloyds, I'm a little unsure of where I would stand if these banks went belly up.

I understand that £35,000 can be claimed back in the event of a bank collapsing, but is that per person, per household or per account.

I have an sole account at the Halifax with £15k in it and my wife has a sole account with £25k in it also at the Halifax, is £5k at risk.

All advice much appreciated.

You would stand in your boarded up house with a shot gun and as many bottles of water and tins of beans as you can muster.
