Almost certainly your £34 was not enough to cover your gas and electricity bills and you have run up a debit balance.

It is probable that you will pay of your debit balance after a few months and then it will revert to a lower figure. - but bear in mind that prices have just increased a lot.

You should be able to negotiate a longer period to repay the debit balance, depending on how long it took the balance to build up.
