Saga

My mum has some money with Saga are they being bought out by Lloyds if this all goes through or is it just Halifax? she does not have a clue where the best place to invest is anyone any ideas its all such a minefield having never been in a position myself of having money to invest I cant advise her;)

    The merger will likely involve the whole HBOS Group (Saga / AA / IF / BM / Halifax / BOS). But if she has £35k or less with Saga ... she shouldn't be worrying. And as the merger with Lloyds / TSB will be announced in the morning - even less to worry about.
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

    Yeah, my understanding is that Saga is just a brand name. The actual bank behind it is HBOS. Like Mikeyorks says.

    I'm not sure if this affects Lloyds TSB and Cheltenham and Gloucester being separate from Halifax / Bank of Scotland / Saga / The AA / Birmingham Midshires / Intelligent Finance. I suspect they will continue to exist as two separate registrations in the Financial Services Compensation Scheme for the time being, but I'm sure Martin will update us when he hears differently.
