Memory Foam Mattress Help

Hello,

I invested last year in a 3" memory foam topper, that's brill. But I made the leap to buy a memory foam mattress from ebay from: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HIGHLAND-LUXURY-10-KING-SIZE-MEMORY-FOAM-MATTRESS_W0QQitemZ360050148798QQihZ023QQcategoryZ131596QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Now I got it delivered and opened it to get air to it and left it for 24 hours to expand as you do. I find the mattress is very hard, I mean takes 15 secs to mould to your body and then 15 secs to go back to shape. I've talked to a furniture wholesaler and he said that it is not a genuine memory foam mattress as it would cost more than £190 to make the thing that's what I paid for it and genuine memory foam moulds to your body right away like my topper does and is very uncomfortable. I don't know where I stand. I have emailed the seller tonight and filed a paypal dispute, silly me didn't use my credit card. The thing is I won this as an auction not a buy it now.
Kind Regards
Bill

Can't you just open an "item not as described" dispute? You'd obviously have to pay for return postage...

I would have been suspicious that someone was selling them for so cheap, as "proper" memory phone mattress' cost over £300!

If you get your money back and still want one, go to a specialist that sells them, where you can try them out in the shop!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

These mattresses are all made the same way. A layer of high density foam added to which is a layer of memory foam, the depth of which depends on how much you pay. In your case you bought a 3" layer of MF on top of a 7" layer of HD foam as described in the auction. I think your problem is that the HD layer is probably too firm for you but it is described as a Medium/Firm mattress so you've got what you paid for. Pinkshoes is right about trying out a mattress before buying and that goes for any mattress not just memory foam. At least you've got the 7 day return option as noted in the auction details. Same thing sells on Amazon for £249.99 by the way.
  • I bought the same mattress on ebay six weeks ago but from a different seller, and I agree with you entirely, it was like sleeping on a bench it was so hard. I don't know how they have so much postive feedback with people saying how comfortable it is because i certainly didn't find that. I was able to get my money back from the seller because I measured the mattress and it actually measured 9 inches and not 10. He asked me to send him a photo and a video showing this and then refunded me and let me keep the mattress (which i've now replaced). Anyway it might be worth you measuring it just to check as you may be able to get your money back that way.

I presume it was the OP who asked me this same question through ebay, so this is what I replied:

As far as I can tell the Highland mattresses that this seller sells are genuine memory foam. However I don't believe that the quality is very good, as I have seen a number of complaints about them. The density is also too high, which is why it is taking so long to mould to your body.

I think your only come back is with distance selling regs. Contact trading standards for advice.

  • Joy when i recieved this one, I suffer from no more back pain, and i get a good nights sleep now also. My wife also suffers from Restless leg syndrome in her sleep, which was so frustrating for me but now i had noticed that even this has reduced greatly. Well worth the money, very well packed and quality is very good.

We had a tempur mattress before, but i wish i had know beforehand that Tempur mattrasses are actually soft ones and let you sink in that much that your body nearly overcooks. We cannot stress out enough how good this highland mattress is (for those you need a firm mattress), but try to find one online or in a shop !

If you want a firm mattress as described buy this one ! I absolutely agree with the previous post - you get what you paid before as described medium firm.
