Does anybody know what the limit on savings is before it begins to effect your Income Support and Disability living allowances?

There is no savings limit for DLA, you could be a millionaire. Income Support is different.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

Yeah, income support is means-tested. My understanding is that for a working-age person, it used to be £3000, but it has recently been upped to £6000. Savings that your partner has will also affect your benefit, and the amounts are different for older people.
These figures are not set in stone for all time, though. As with any other figures relating to tax and benefits, they can change in any annual budget. I guess they're very unlikely to change half way through the year, though. If it does change half way through the year, then the media will probably make lots and lots of noise about it, like they did with the 10% tax thing. Point is, you should get into the habit of checking the figures at least once a year, and not assume that they're going to stay the same from one year to the next.
