Can anyone advise me please?

Can anyone tell me please. If you have been careful and have savings. How do you avoid having to use your savings to live on before you can claim benefits if you lost your job and have no other income? Would it be best to invest and if so where?

Not possible I'm afraid-be grateful you have savings and hope you get back to work quickly!

If you are talking about means tested benefits you cannot avoid using your savings to live on before claiming these benefits when you have over £16000. If you did try to do this it would be fraud. There is nowhere you can invest to avoid this. If you are talking about non means tested benefits your savings would not be affected by claiming.
