I buy it in springwater so neither issue!

I stocked up when Asda had 12 cans of John West for £5.00 a few months back.

tesco value tuna chunks 35p, i cant tell the difference between this and john west. just make sure you dont pick up the flakes by accident (29p) as they are in an almost identical tin.

I tried these the other day and I can agree that they are just as good as the more expensive brands of tuna.

I used to buy the John West tuna in springwater too BUT have you noticed the ingredients on the tin? It says it contains tuna, springwater & SALT! Doesn't that make it tuna in brine?! I haven't bought it since I saw that & now buy Tesco own make in springwater instead, no added salt!

Doesn't the sunflower oil taste too greasy? It is nearly twice as many calories than the brine one which I have always used. I have virtually no other salt in my diet apart from the tuna but am interested if the sunflower one tastes OK.

Our neighbour used to feed the cat when we went on holiday. Once, we went away for a week and the cat was massively fat when we came home, and it turned out the neighbour had been feeding it tuna in oil. Might want to watch those calories! :rotfl:
