get an electric lawn rake and scalp it. pull every bit of rubbish out of it, re seed it and if your'e quick there is time now the earth is still warm.

  • To get rid of moss, use moss killer and then scarify it. You can hire petrol scarifiers (better than elec ones) for about £30. Your lawn will look dreadful after you have done it, but it will come back looking good. October is a good time to do this.
I use the services of greenthumb, a national lawn franchise who are excellent. They come 4 times a year and feed and weed your lawn and give you any advice. My lawn costs me £23 a time and the charge depends on the size of lawn.

agree with johnny m, petrol ones are better, but if your lawns not to big an electric one is fine. the one thing we both are saaying tho is pull everything out. it will look like a mud patch , nothing left or very little but will soon grow back.

  • Thanks for that guys i will give it a try this week.
  • By the way, you will be amazed at how much stuff a scarifier scrapers off your lawn, its much more than a mower will ever cut off. The scarifier collection box was full every 10 metres on my lawn last year.
