There's Loch Morlich about 5-10miles away where you can do watersports, including equipment hire http://www.lochmorlich.com/
Clay shooting - they do this at rothiemurcus http://www.rothiemurchus.net/
Quad biking - dunno the nearest but bogbain farm is about 30miles up the A9, they do it. They also do clay shooting/archery but not every day http://www.bogbainfarm.com/
EDIT - There's the badaguish activity place aswell http://www.badaguish.org/0 -
We visited the Highland Wildlife Park in January this year. Snow on the ground then and it was amazing. The wolves all appeared - thought I was going to feed them :rotfl: The park also had Snow Monkeys which had be relocated from Edinburgh Zoo as it was too warm for them there. I recommend the Hilton Hotel at Coylumbridge which is just outside Aviemore. I love it there.0

I think Loch Morlich watersports place is closed in January?
Try this site for some ideas: http://adventure.visitscotland.com/
And for skiing: http://www.cairngormmountain.org.uk/ (snow not guaranteed - even in January)"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

My children like to go to the climbing wall centre in the industrial estate near the Dalfaber Golf course. There is also a lady in Carrbridge where you can visit her studio and she will show you how to throw a pot, and glaze it for around £12 per person. It was a lovely couple of hours with her, contact details were in the small A5 tourist leaflet/pamphlet that is available. Swimming at the MacDonaold Hotel, cycling/ walking around the Rothiemurchus estate.
Day trips to Inverness by train and maybe a longer trip up to Mairn or Findhorn.0 -
If you have a car then Inverness, Elgin and Nairn aren't too far away.
One place I like is Lochindorb. There's nothing there apart from the loch, a castle, and the wildlife. Sometimes it can be eerily quiet and peaceful. The man without a signature.0 -
Oh you'll love Aviemore at that time of year, pity it wasn't couple weeks later in January you would have saw snow dog rally, really is fab, reccommend a nice coffee and cake at Cafe Mambo such a nice place to sit and relax, have a great one :beer:0
