Best place to sell euros?

We were booked on a holiday with XL and the day before it went bust we ordered our currency online through Currency Express, paid £504 and got 620 euros. We couldn't find another holiday so we just applied for a refund which we should get next week. But now we're stuck with 620 euros. Went to Lloyds, Co-Op Travel, Thomas Cook, Thomsons and the Post Office today to see how much we'd get and the most was £459 from Co-Op Travel. It seems so unfair that we should be £45 down when it's not out fault.

Does anybody else know where we could sell them to get the same price? I've had a look on Currency Express and can't see anything about them buying them back.

Thanks in advance x

One option, if you can afford it, would be to sit on the cash - sterling is very low against the euro at the moment and may improve. I was spending on my Nationwide cc in France last week and the transactions have come through at 1.26 (your initial exchange was 1.23).

I've been sitting on 'a fistful of dollars' since a cancelled holiday a couple of years ago waiting for sterling to drop against the dollar and finally now it's happening!

    Don't follow your thinking.

If sterling improves against the Euro, then the 620 he is holding now will be worth less than it is now!

We ideally wanted to change it ASAP so we can use that money to pay for a few days in London, we've been told we'll get a refund from Thomsons next week but at first they said this week so not really holding breath for that coming anytime soon.

places will buy them back, but always at less than you buy them for in the first instance.

I would have thought £485 would be a good price (620euros is now worth £508 at travelex), there must be someone on here that could do with a deal like that?

Quite right come to think of it - that's why I'm pleased sterling has fallen against the dollar isn't it!

Just keep your ears open to family, friends and work colleagues and sell them off as and when.
