Students who work for Tesco

hi, i didnt know where to put this so i hope it is ok

i currently work for tesco and have done for the past two years, last year i managed to transfer stores so i could work whilst studying at uni. this year however two thousend students across the country have requested to transfer stores so they can work whilst they study. today i was told that none of us will be transferred and will loose our jobs. we will get NO redundancy money, have our shares sold for us without a penny given back to us, our staff discount taken away which we had to work for a year anyway before we were entitle to that. we have basically been sacked for the fact we are students. i was told that we could ask for a career break but stores are not giving those out either. we work unsocial hours, do not get the full amount of holidays that we are entitled to, and are paid so low for the amount of rudeness and abuse that we get from the customers. if you are a student who works for tesco, (or anyone else) and feel this is the case please can you leave your name at the bottom. thank you

Are you a member of the retail union(usdaw)? if so consult with them over unpaid holidays,as for not being allowed to transfer thats probably because of the looming recession,hopefully your 2 years retail experience will help you get a new part time job when back at uni

im going to my union today, have been told that due to my contract being continuous i should be able to redundancy money as well as my unpaid holiday money. its the fact that they think that they can get away with it which bugs me the most

Contact your students union/nus - I'm fairly sure that Tesco won't want the negative publicity and (possibly) students boycotting their stores.
