Tenancy Agreements

Whatever.Spot on, only had them done the other day using professional cleaners.
I was just trying to make the point, admittedly sarcastically, that simply vacuuming carpets is not enough. The most that can be asked for is that the carpets should be cleaned to a professional standard. Obviously, if they were not when the tenancy commenced then it would difficult to enforce.
In my original post I put they are old carpets, one has a burn mark on.
Therefore even if they where cleaned to a professional standard it probably wouldnt be noticable. The carpets dont look like they have ever been cleaned, they are clean but not in prestige condition, the tenancy contract is for 6 months and if they change tenants every 6 months that means carpets need professional cleaning twice every 12 months. So i was looking for an answer as to if they could put such a term in the agreement.0 -
When daughter rented her flat, the person who did the inventory told her, the carpet was not professionally cleaned, therefore she does have to do it. Two students lived in the flat and their mum came and clean it. I do not think professional cleaning of carpet was mentioned in her contract, that can be quite costly as the flat is big.0

To look after carpets.
Vacuum regularly - 2 to 3 times a week. Don't let dirt get ingrained and wear the carpet. To Vacuum properly you need a good vacuum which beats the carpet to separate the pile so the dirt is lifted out.
Spot clean as soon as you see a stain. I use AutoGlym carpet cleaner, available from Halfords. There are plenty others.
Ideally wash the carpets around once a year.
I don't do all the above and I doubt your daughter will. In which case the carpet will deteriorate and will need a proper clean before she hands it back at the end of the tenancy.0 -
My daughter is asthmatic and will vacuum daily if not more than once a day. The carpets are in the bedrooms so are not in high traffic areas and therefore should remain somewhat in the condition they are when she first moves in. Like in earlier post, not all parts of the tenancy are applicable to each rental property, according to the LATo look after carpets.
