Yes , we know about the £400

wouldnt it be better for the govenrment to pay this directly to the energy company concered , basically cutting out any bills for 4 months ?

    just an idea:D

Think that might cost a small fortune on adminstration. My Mum will also receive £400.00 this year and it's going to be a huge help & she's very pleased. My Mum puts a regular amount on her British Gas payment card every week and it's helped ease the pain of a large bill. She's actually £75.00 in credit at the moment.

OAP's are well catered for in the energy market (wrong word), £250 and even more for experienced lifers.
Regards to your grandma, a good age. Does she do well?

Don't forget it is any household with anyone over 60/80. The 60/80 year old might not be paying the bills as they could be living with children etc.

I did hear a story - can't vouch for its accuracy - where the wife of a pensioner couple 'moved out' and went to live with her son and wife. She did it officially registering for council tax etc.

They both now get the £250 Winter Fuel Rebate(two different households in different areas) and he gets 25% discount off council tax as well.

I understand they still see quite a lot of each other!!!!

Sorry Ken , missed this ! , she does ok , we get up to see her every day , do her cleaning etc , but she`s very stubborn so is very guarded around her bills etc , its a hard job making sure she isnt getting fleeced by various companies , just for example , BT were still taking £4.95 a month for a phone that she used to rent in the 80`S !!

Nice to know seeing her every day, and as long as you can get in if she's ill.
Can't you get her back to work. :-)
