problems getting a proper answer out of E-on.

Options
Previous address we lived at was all Electricity (no gas) and was provided by E-On which we paid on a monthly direct debit of £91.

anyway we have moved and asked to transfer the balance (£230) across to carry on paying, as well as taking out our gas with them at our new property and wanted to carry on paying a single direct debit.

anyway they somehow managed to set up 2 seperate accounts, one for electricity which they have set as bill on demand per quarter and transferred our old electricity balance to the new gas account.

confusing i know.

anyway about 3 weeks ago i asked them to merge the accounts and carry on taking a single direct debit. Just called today and tehy still havent been merged.

im concerned that in october 30th (next bill date) im gonna be landed with a massive bill which my direct debit hasnt been contributing towards...

they dont seem to be able to give me any assurances or any info. they just say it'll be another few weeks before they are merged and then it "should" be sorted and my balance will be combined and show my previous direct debits going towards.

complicated i know, but can anyone give any advice?

Eon are crap from my experience. They say they'll do something, or have done something, and you check a month later and they haven't. They're also really expensive as well. If you switch, I guess the new company might be better and they'll start you off with one account.

You cannot normally transfer amount owing on one property to another what you will get is a final bill for that address, if you are unable to pay that in one go speak to them.
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.
  • Was the new property being supplied by E.On when you moved in? It may be that they were supplying one fuel but not the other, so had to transfer one of the fuels across first to them, and might be why you have 2 account numbers.

It can take a while to converge accounts together as they have to be moved on the system, but it will get done.
