This may be a long shot, but has anyone got this combination to work?
(Belkin wireless router FSD6231 -4 )
Neighbour across the road asked if I could help as he could get his two laptops connected to his wireless netowrk, but not his daughters ipod.
It could see the network being available, but on selecting that network, and then attempting to access the internet (such as youtube) - there would be a no server error.
I checked the ipod IP address and it had something like 169.182.something something - - which I have found out to be normal for an ipod to default to if it cannot get an IP from DHCP.
So I tried configuring the IP address manually to put it on the correct subnet as the router. But still no joy. Tried also resetting the router and the ipod - nope..
This was the same whether network security was on or not (WPA or WEP made no difference).
So I tried it on my network - turned security off, and BANG - the router immediately DHCP'd the correct information accross to the ipod and we wre away (I have a linksys router).
So tried with WPA and again no problem.
So the ipod could at least connect to the internet - so we tried again with the belkin and not a sausage.
So has anyone had any luck with the Belkin setup this way?
If so then it may just be the case of swapping the router for another - If not then it means getting another make, (although I don't have much luck with Belkin routers myself anyway).

They don't have MAC address filtering switched on on their router do they?
That's the only other thing I can think of, unless there's a limit to the number of clients the router will allow wirelessly at once.Russia is HERE0 -
There was nothing set in the MAC address filtering so I took it that it should be OK . especially taking it with default settings - as for clients there is only a mximum of 4 - 1 tower - directly wired - 2 laptops - wireless and the Ipod, but even with the laptops disconnected the ipod still didnt want to know.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
