    10,000 Posts Combo Breaker
the article at the start of this thread refers to 110,000 people working in the financial services sector losing their jobs.

there seems to be some assumption here that this means they'll all be sacked from the city.

the article, however, appears to refer to the industry as a whole, so IFAs, mortgage brokers, counter staff in banks, insurance brokers / underwriters etc etc etc. as well as people working in investment banks in the city.

The Times reckons 40,000 will go from the LLOY/HBOS merger alone (out of nearly 140k). That seems on the low side to me.

You have well over 2,300 posts yourself, you know (-: Only a few less than !!!!!!.

I wonder do all the posts he goes back to delete afterwards come off the posting count

I wouldn't waste your time pointing out the stupidity to him of having a go at someone for posting a lot on MSE, on MSE, when he himself posts a lot on MSE. :D

He constantly tries to provoke me about anything and this is just the latest attempt to goad me into an argument. When you were away on hols there was a huge thread about how the group was descending into nothing except pointless personal slanging matches so I put him on ignore in the interests of a generally more pleasant group.

I see that chucky is now aiding and abetting him ... since they 'both' have a record of pathetic sniping and indeed going back and deleting past posts I don't think I'll take 'them' up on 'their' offer of yet another disruptive, nasty and personal slagging match.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

seriously though - how could you sack 110,000 people in the city!? totally impossible! even 40,000 would be too many!!

Why not? Look how compliantly the Lehman staff left. Gurning for photos outside and in bars.
