The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

I dont know, with the credit crunch and all people might be buying second hand books because they only tend to read them once anyways?
Next year I'm setting myself a challenge of only buying second hand books, it's so easy to just click on amazon and get yourself a new one. Part of the challenge is to compair the book to the new price and put however much i've saved into my savings account. (Which I'm in the process of opening now  )0 -
Good plan Cinny. It is rare I buy a new book, when I do it's always Amazon not a high street shop as it's usually at least 1/3rd off the price. I'm asking for a few art books for Christmas though from my grandparents, and those are quite rare and dont seem to be available second hand for any less than a new one.
Used my £10 toluna and £10 trustedplaces amazon vouchers yesterday to order a book for dad, a dvd for my brother and cd for mum for Christmas. And that together with the holiday to center parks is it for them! So, only OH left to handle and want to get one of those goats for uganda or something for grannie and grandad, have them a nice hamper of teas, china tea cups and going to get some biccies too, but they never really use what they get given anyway and I think they would prefer this! Bought 20 chickens for my auntie last year, she was chuffed to bits with them.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I used Mazuma last time LT, but there are a few companies and its really quick to get a quote. Mazuma just happened to offer me the most, but they do vary so worth spending 10 mins to check all of them. Some even give quidco cashback. The lovely Martin :money: has written an article on it, if you look at the 'utilities phones' tab at the top of the site, its under there. Sounds like a nice present for your grandparents! I've made my grandparents a hamper too, 2 new mugs, loose yorkshire tea, new tea towels (joy!) and some marzipan fruits. I might steal your idea for the goat type thing but get one from the dogs trust instead (not sending them a goat, but keeping the kennel warm for a day or something) my grandparents are big dog lovers but feel they're too old to adopt one. Even though I have pointed out they could get an old dog, you know the type who have been in the kennels for years just because they're old? but no, i think they just like to complain.0

Yeah I just want to get them something animal related - didn't know the dogs trust did that, sounds like a better idea than the goat!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I think it really depends on the person. I would rather the money went to help someone than I got some tat I don't want and will just stay in a cupboard. Equally though I would be a little dissapointed if I got 4 cows and a flock of chickens for Christmas and absolutely nothing as a physical pressie!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I agree dinah, its nice to get some presents but sometimes the amount of money we spend at christmas is crazy and the amount of stuff im left with that I didn't really want - do wonder sometimes if it was better when you were a kid and could write a list
i do believe its the thought that counts but having loads of stuff that I wont wear and wont use seems crazy especially when i dont feel i can say no id ont like something when asked because i think it would hurt the persons feelings1 debt vs 100 days part 6-11total paid £8,135.86 Final Debt [STRIKE]6,948.61[/STRIKE] £3,174.940 -
