Camera taken from suitcase Zante

Can anyone help please - I'm trying to help a work colleague who had her camera taken from her suitcase somewhere between Zante airport check in and Gatwick. The camera was taken from the camera bag which was inside the suitcase. To her knowledge one other person on the flight found that his suitcase was open and things 'hanging out' of it. She is not so much worried about the replacement cost as the pictures that were on the card and was very upset to lose them.
She phoned the tour operator who said to phone her insurers. They said she wasn't covered on her insurance. The police were informed - they said contact your insurers.
The point to raise is - She believes that the camera was taken at Zante Airport - , does anyone in the business know what she could do - to make the airport aware of what's happening / to try and trace her camera - if by any chance someone was 'caught'.
Many thanks.

Leaving valuables in a suitcase is monumentally stupid. Always carry them on.
Nothing she can do.0 -
The person to claim from is the Airline but they will say ahe ahould have filled out a form at the time of the incident! This happened to us and even though we rang the Police and got a crime number at the airport, because we didn't fill in one of these forms we got nowhere. The Airline never told us we had to, they just phoned the Police and passed the phone to us! Many letters later still nothing so your friends should make a complaint to the Police but will not get any compensation. Try house insurance?0

I dont think the price of a item that was taken from your (often) locked and strapped luggage is the issue. More worring is the fact that there are times and people that have access into your personal items to allow them to take out and possibly worse still put in what they want. These workers are security checked and searched when they enter a secure area(apparently) why are they not searched when they leave ???
friend had 400 fags taken from his case at manchester airport (he spotted it with orange tape still on being off loaded .Tape was missing and small lock taken off at collection. without touching it he refused to take it off the belt and called the police,Claiming his bag had been tampered with and explained that it happened at Manchester. Police removed bag from belt and serched it and said that there wasnt anything in it that shouldn't be. Except the fags . Police (joking) stated that it happens all the time and most people just leave it there as it takes forever to get a response from the airport and never get anywhere in the end normally cameras and perfume.
What happens at the end of a shift for these workers do they just leave without search or how do they get goods eg. cameras /golf stuff that they never had this morning out. Are they busier looking for their own bounty than safety checks:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
