Norther Rock I believe currently enjoys full protection for it's deposits, though that can be withdrawn with a month or two notice (not sure on the exact notice period). So if you don't want to mess about with multiple accounts for a few quarters of a % then I think they have a 6% offeringNorthern rock as its secure

Yes. The Bank of England and HM Treasury guarantee arrangements cover all deposits, regardless of the amount deposited, and apply to all existing and new accounts, as well as to further interest payments.
