The easter bunny took my daughters away and left her a really BIG egg to say thank you !!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
She hung it in a bag on a tree ouside our house and came running in the morning to see if it was gone. She was really happy about it, but for months afterwards I kept finding her dolls dummies in bags all over the house !!!!!:TThe two best things I have done with my life

Hi ! Just having a flick through - and found you lot! I've never been on this one before! Hello everyone. My little un would not give up his dummy, so a few weeks before he was 3 was started telling him that 3 year olds were not allowed dummies! (Cruel I know!):o But it worked the day he turned three, he put his dummies in a bag,so he 'would not get wrong'... ahh! bless. Then that night he woke up in the night, and would normally shout for his dummy, but he shouted 'I want my..... oh I forgot' then went back to sleep. He never asked for it again. Think we should have tried harder maybe, never mind! He is gone 4 now.0

I'm choosing to let DS keep the dummy until he's 3. Like Christopher he only has it in his cot - where it lives - or if we're going on a really long car journey when he should nap.
He has a tendency to suck/chew his fingers so I would rather he keep the dummy and minimise the risks of him finger/thumb sucking which is much harder to control or stop. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -

My niece was 3 when she stopped having her dummy, she gradually needed it less and less and my sister stopped buying new ones telling her she was a big girl and didnt really need them anymore! took a few weeks, but eventually stopped having it al together.

re dummys i wont have that problem because Oz didnt get one (i didnt like the thought of them) course when i was at my wits end when he wouldnt sleep i eventually bought one but then he wouldnt suck it!
however - my friends little boy gave his to santa but its too late for that. but my sister wanted her DD to stop having hers (again only at sleepy times) so what my mum did is this - went into a local toy shop and bought asoemthing my niece would love (a thomas toy) and then asked the lady behind the counter if she would keep it for her and do her a favour. When my mum brought my niece into the shop she told her that this lady had a new baby and she needed her dummy cos she didnt have one and my niece was a big girl now and didnt need it and if she gave her the dummy she would give her a present. - A bit convoluted but it worked! She was just over 2 at the time, and she only asked for it the first night and they explained the baby had it and that was that!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Exactly the same thing happened with my little one. Was desparate to give him a dummy to ease his colic but he didn't know what to do with it!! So I have no experience here but a girl from work started to rub lemon onto her LO's dummy. She says it worked a treat!0

Thanks Girls! (ooh I normally say Ladies, oh well today I'm feeling less grown up!)
I think I might start removing his dummie while he's asleep (he usually spits it out in the night anyway) and see if he cries out in the night. I'll let him keep it if its just while he nods off
There was no real reason for me not wanting him have it - his teeth are a teeny bit crooked but dentist yesterday said he didn't think it would effect his adult teeth (I was expecting him to say get it off him asap)
I just had the thought that it would be harder to get rid of it once he's got a Lil bro/sis merrily sucking on one but then again I'm not gonna buy one for bubs before hand coz hopefully I'll be BFing so may never happen and if a baby can do with out maybe he'll feel silly still having one if we don't get rid

On to a bit of [STRIKE]boasting[/STRIKE] news Christopher can roll his tongue :T I did it this morning and he just copied me :j
I'm also eagerly awaiting a parcel from Kiddicare I don't know exactly what it is tho, it could be the double pack or cocoon or the actual P&T pram I've ordered - Its like Christmas again0
