Firefox. Visited links not highlighted annoyance.

In Firefox Tools, Options, Fonts And Colours, I have my Link Colours selected as follows Unvisited Links... Blue, Visited Links... Red. This makes for easy navigating around the page, especially on this forum, as you can easily see what you have read and what you haven't. Unfortunately, on lots of sites including this one it doesn't work and the links are not highlighted. This has been a continuous annoyance to me and in all versions of Firefox it's never worked properly.
Searching the Internet I have found an answer to the problem which works 100%.
So, if it's annoying you perhaps you would like to try this?
You need to uncheck "Always use my colors"
To make things easier, install ChromEdit:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=17
Once installed, restart, go to "Tools > Edit User Files"
Go to the "userContent.css" tab
Paste the Code: which can be found in this article here....http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1889091#1889091 at the end of the file_
Save and Restart.

The problem with using a default set of link colours rather than the ones specified in the page's style sheet is that if you're on a page with say a blue background, and you have your link colour set to blue... slight problem seeing the links.
Can't say any sites have ever annoyed me with their link formatting
