I have been given (freebie!) leather sofa. Navy blue. It's lovely and comfy and 'squashy', but leather wants a bit of TLC.
I know you can buy special cleaner, but it's pricey! Two people have said use baby wipes - anyone tried 'em? Have used saddle soap on the back. OK, but unsure about using it all over. Any suggestions welcome.
And don't suggest 'go and buy a new one'. Why do you think I gave myself a name like I have!!!!

We use saddle soap on ours and it is supple and clean. Saddle soap doesn't just clean it feeds the leather too. The trick is not to get it too wet or else or tends to get a bit sticky. It's the cheapest option by far.0

Baby wipes are OK for spills but won't give it a proper, deep clean. I had a great leather cleaner spray from Betterware which was about £5 but has lasted me for years. I've also seen a similar thing in Poundland-got to be worth a try?!0

Thanks. That's the quickest response I've had!!!!
I'll go with that - since I already have saddle soap. It never used to rub off onto my jodhpurs anyway!:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -

Hi i was recommended by a very nice lady from DFS to use a mixture of warm water and Lux flakes! As i cant seem to find any in my area, im now using soap flakes and warm water.
You just mix it in a washing up bowl, wash the suite down with it first, then go over it straight away with a warm wet cloth, as ive found the soap flakes can leave it a tad sticky. Then dry off with a towel.
It works a treat and my sofa looks lovely afterwards!! Can be used on all leather suites too.
Your local supermarket stocks the soap flakes or Boots does them.LIVE, LOVE, AND LEARN!!0 -

My ex mother in law (thank god) used to use baby oil. She said it would make the leather go shiny, condition it, stop it from cracking and make it smell nice. You have to leave it 2 hours or so to sink in though.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hi, I use two parts olive oil to one part white vinegar, shaken up in a squirty bottle to clean my cream leather suite. Comes up a treat and no hard scrubbing neccessary. Tip; write the recipe on the bottle with indelible marker then when you top up the bottle months after making the last batch, you won't forget proportions as i did once!0

Just received new leather suite and was wondering hows best to keep it suptle. Was offered all manner of chemical sprayons and would prefer to use something more natural to keep it up to scratch
Thanks
