Just thought i'd pass it on to the guys and gals that have 20 meg CABLE BB with Virgin
If you have the BLUE NTL 250 modem that starts with the MAC address 00.0E.......then you need to ring VM and request a new BLACK NTL 256 modem with a MAC address starting 00.01.......
How do i know this.....i was chatting to a VM tech guy and he said if i have a blue NTL250 with a MAC address starting 00.0E then it is out of date and will not work as well than one of the new black ones
as i said it must have a MAC address of 00.0E......if you have one that starts with 00.01 then you are fine
MAC address can be found on the bottom of the modem.....VM sent me one out within 3 days FREE OF CHARGE!!!
Just thought i'd let you know

From what I recall, the current modems aren't compliant with the DOCSIS 3 standard that the 50Mbps is going to be running on, therefore there's going to be a necessity to upgrade modems with the end user. This, hopefully, will free up bandwidth on the DOCSIS 2 network when the heavy users are booted over too it, so it might be worth staying with 20Mbps0 -

Yep your probably right! as i'm more than happy with the speed i get, pretty much always above 18Mbps and they are bound to make the 50Mbps bloody expensive
Though i do live in a very small populated area which does have its benefitsIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I read over on another forum that roughly if you were on 50Mbps, you would be able to download at that rate for 8 minutes before having your connection throttled. It does make assumptions based on current STM, but it's an indication at least, and we all know VM only look out for #10
